Repost: Helping those in Need

This is just a glimpse of what Ondoy (Ketsana) did to many of my countrymen. A lot have lost their homes while more than 200 have lost their lives. I was looking at my friends' photos of the flood and I was greatly heartbroken. I called up a friend of mine to ask if they were affected by the flood and he said that they are soon going to lose everything. He tied his car to a tree so that the water won't take it away but he said he's grateful that they are all alive. However, my good friend Willa's family literally lost everything and it's breaking my heart when I read her blog post so I have decided to do my part as a friend and a Filipino and ask for your help as well. You can read Willa's plea here. I am knocking on your loving hearts to help Willa's family in this harrowing phase in their lives. If you could spare a penny for her family please do. And if you can's, at least repost this on your blog linking to her post. Thank you very much.

Upcoming Contest

Hello! How's your week so far? I feel like it's Monday today because yesterday was a national holiday in the Philippines as a way to celebrate the end of Ramadan of our Muslim brothers and sisters. And since my cousins were here, I invited them to eat at a local barbecue joint and then went out for fruit shakes afterward. We had a blast, I mean our tummies had a blast.

So anyway, I noticed a few days ago that I have coupons piling up so I decided to give two of those as my way of sharing my blessings to others. Pretty neat huh? However, I haven't thought of what kind of contest I am going to host but it's definitely going to have something to do with scrapping. So I don't have anything to offer for now but check back later and then I may have something up brewing in my brain. ;)

Scrap That Idea

A few months ago, when I was chatting with my scrappy cousin Suzanne, I told her that I got accepted in my first CT application for Sir Scrapalot and that I have a new designer idol which is Mel Hains. So I was yakking about stalking her and her freebies and then she advised me to practice and practice and practice on scrapping so that when Mel decides to have a CT call again, I will be able to apply and be accepted.

So anyway, that was a few months ago. I am now creating layouts, and well, hybrids for three designers whom I really adore and love and I have also said that I am one of the site CTs for Digital Scrap Cafe. Last month, during my stalking hour with Mel, I have read about a Site CT Call for Scrap That Idea and I have thought hard whether I can manage to apply and get involved in another team. I have thought for a week (no exaggeration really) and decided to have it a go since I'm only taking my chances. Well well, guess what? I got accepted! Woot!

With this current development in my scrapping stint, I am beginning to think of it as my real job than teaching. *lol* I may not be that active from the other forums but I will be visiting from time to time, you know I'll be busy. ;) And you guys may want to check out Scrap That Idea, the store isn't new btw, and they have awesome stuffs to sell for you there. Not to mention that the products there are very affordable.

So there goes my Monday for now. I still haven't had enough sleep from the party we went to last night which I will be posting photos and some stories when I get sober.

The Second Hybrid Card!

A few days ago I was able to create my first card using digiscrap kits and now I made another one! Woot! Here it is!

I liked the personalized appeal that it has, having printed the receiver's name and slightly altered the image from Sir Scrapalot's Digi Diva kit to make the girl look Asian. I think this is cute! I also used the paper from the Polka Dot Plum blogtrain and some of the elements from Lollipops and Gumdrops. I knwo the photos above don't do justice so I'm also sharing with you the soft copy of what I have done with it.

So anyway, after creating the cards, I realized that I still have to learn how to create envelopes and I'm scouting the digiworld for templates but so far I have not seen any. Care to help me?

DSC Freebies

Sabrina's becoming one of my favorite designers in digiworld because of her clean and simple style in creating her pages and kits. Her creations are at the DSC Spotlight for the first 15 days of September and she's giving away these adorable stuffs for free! Click on the images for the link!

Also, while blog hopping again today, I found this kit created by Digi Designs by Nicole and she's giving this away in her blog for free. Go there and grab the kits now as the links may expire sooner or later.

My Hybrid Card!

After my post yesterday, I decided not to procrastinate and tried printing my first hybrid card. I think it's good for a first timer. I am sending the card to my BFF Karen and I'm making another one for my other BFF Pam because I know she'll give me a cold shoulder when she doesn't receive any. Haha. Anyway, here it is.

Like I said, I am planning to create more hybrid cards in the future and I have seen some kits that's perfect for it!

Missing MLAS

MLAS is still down today and I miss being there really. I've been checking out the site from time to time and it's kinda frustrating to see that the server's down. Well anyway, I hope that the site will get back before I make my 10th layout. :D

Well, I've been talking about doing hybrid for a couple of weeks now and I am proud to say that I HAVE FINALLY DONE IT! Yay for me! I have not printed it yet but the card template's all done. So for now, I know you wouldn't call it hybrid. LOL. Well, not yet! But in a couple of hours it will be I tell ya! I love making cards especially now that I now know how I could utilize the digital kits that I have.

Well it's Monday once again and it's time for another......

Birth Day of Sorts

It's my son's 5th birthday today so we had a mini celebration in our household. I bought sans rival as his birthday cake and then baked lasagna, my dad bought chicken, ice cream and the traditional noodles for long life, while my mom gave me the money for the lasagna ingredients. We didn't invite any guest but the little boy's oh so happy. He's been singing the Happy Birthday song the whole day and when he's not singing, he's shouting "It's My Day Today!" This year's celebration wasn't grand but the kids were happy and that's what matters most. Caillou's even singing Happy Birthday for his brother while I'm posting this.

So anyway, today's also the birth day of my being a site CT of Digital Scrap Cafe. I'm really thrilled with this development in my scrapping "career" because I am learning more day by day in this craft. And by the way, DSC is hiring for their Praise Team Call, anyone interested may apply!

Lastly, I was given a good news for my real work (for those who don't know, I'm a teacher). The supervisor gave me my appointment for being a permanent teacher in the government. Yay! Today is really a great day! A birth day of sorts.
