Bouncing Back from the Loss

The EHD is dead. Really dead. It's gone. Goodbye.

Good thing I bounced back easily. This is what I am thankful for myself and God for giving me this optimism in life. I sulked for a while thinking of the memories I have lost with those photos but then I realized that I can make new memories with the kids. Life is still good and I always believe that everything happens for a reason. Maybe it's God's way of telling me to lay low on scrapping and photoshoping and concentrate on my real life work. But of course I won't be leaving any of my CT but I know for sure that this will be the start of a new and organized ME in the digi world. I regret to have lost those files but it is time to move on and here are some things that I have learned from this horrendous experience:

1. Always back up your files and with this I mean burning those photos or kits to a CD. You can never rely on hard drives, HDD, HD, or EHD. I still don't know the difference anyway, everything will still corrupt sooner or later.

2. Print those photos and forget about storing them for "a while."

3. Store your files online. I know a few free online storage like mediafire, box.net, 4shared, photobucket, etc. These can help you at least retrieve your files when they get lost like what happened to mine. As for your kits, make them private to avoid digital piracy.

4. Don't be dependent on gadgets like hard drives, USBs, etc. Never let them be your masters. When they die, throw them. That's what I'll do with mine.
So I hope these tips will help you from experiencing the same nightmare that I had.

The Day My EHD Died

My Western Digital 1Tb My Book Essential Edition died today. I think it did anyway.
I was doing some layouts for the teams I am in this morning and when I turned on the laptop this afternoon, it won't read the drive. This is really crazy and depressing. I had put ALL of my files in there and now they're all GONE! I have tried other options I can find online but nothing worked. This is a serious matter and I wanna die whenever I remember all the school files I have saved there. Not to mention the years and years of photos of my kids while growing up. That's a major sucker punch of all.

11.20.09

This guy will start imprinting on me.

Woot! Can't wait to watch New Moon via torrent download. Okay so I live in a province where there are no theaters. Well, there are 2 actually but the torrent files are faster than the theaters' showing so now can you feel me? Anyway, I am much more excited with the showing of Eclipse come April/May next year because that's where the real action begins, not to mention that Jacob has more shirtless exposure. Okay so I'm an addict, but who can resist Taylor Lautner? Nobody.
